Album Review: The Saturdays - Headlines

Back to normal-ish now and back with another album review. So lets crack on. The Saturday released mini album/EP 'Headlines' which is being referred to as their third album. The album contains 8 tracks and has 3 tracks from their 'Wordshaker' album and includes their new single 'Missing You'.
The album is their highest charting album to date gaining a respectable #3 in the UK album chart, but was the album worthy of that position?

Here is my track-by-track review:

1. Missing You: The opener of the album and their latest single. It achieved a #2 in the charts narrowly avoiding the top spot. The song is really good and is a real grower. It contains some heavy use of autotune but this adds to the amazingness of the track. 9/10

2. Ego: One of the tracks taken from their second album. This was a single and has been branded as 'Up V2'. The track is a real stomper and is another catchy track from the girls. Easily one of the standouts. 10/10

3. Higher: The first of the new tracks and is one of the new tracks that have been performed at their Summer shows. The track boasts more autotune and another great catchy tune. This song has been branded 'Up V3' and will be the second single from this album. Definitely deserves to be a smash hit. 10/10

4. Forever Is Over: The second track taken from the 'Wordshaker' album. I'm not sure that this track should have been included as I think this is the weakest track on the album. This doesn't mean that its not worth a listen but it is probably a skippable track. 7/10

5. Died In Your Eyes: The ballad of the album and a ddecent track. It is a cover of Kristinia Debarge and sounds a bit different to her version. This version is still very good but not very memorable like some of the other tracks. 8/10

6. Karma: Another new track and is another smash. It is a very fun track and has some memorable lyrics such as "I hope you choke on some really hot coffee". Love the track and can't stop listening to it. 10/10

7. Puppet: The last of the new tracks and another catchy one. Easily another standout and you can see why the girls wanted to release these new songs before the release of another full studio album. 10/10

8. One Shot (Starsmith Remix): Supposedly a remix but it doesn't really differ from the original. However, I love the track and it polishes the album off nicely. 8/10

Skip: Forever Is Over
Standouts: Higher, Karma, Puppet, Ego

OVERALL: 9/10

Overall the album is very strong and could stand as contender for best pop album this year in my opinion. Couldn't have asked for better from the girls and it leaves me craving for the next album which will be released next year.
