Amerie Changes Her Name

So I am back and posting and I have a ton of updates to do. To start off I thought I would go lightly with the news of Amerie's name change and my thoughts. This is fairly old news but I want to catch up and throw my two cents in.
So, just in case you haven't heard yet, Amerie has now changed her name to...

'Ameriie'

On the reason for changing her name to add an extra 'i' she said the following to Rap-Up:
“I operate on vibes and intuition, and I believe everything is energy; the vibration of the double I is right for me. Slightly different spelling, completely same pronunciation!”
So, the extra 'i' is all to do with positivity, etc for her new upcoming album 'Cymatika Vol 1'. I really think its the most stupid thing I have heard. I know that I will completely dismiss the fact she added an extra 'i' because otherwise it just confuses matters.

What are your thoughts on this?

Album Review: Amerie - Because I Love It

So, I was planning to write this album view ages ago, but now that I have some free time and no updates to post, I thought I would write it now. This album is fairly old but I class it as a really good album that I would like to share my thoughts about. This album is called "Because I Love It" and is Amerie's third studio album. It was released in 2007, for those who wanted to know.
Upwards and onwards to the track-by-track review:

  1. Forecast (Intro): This intro sets the album off nicely. The length runs just over a minute and does just what it needs to. It whets your appetite for the rest of the album. 9/10
  2. Hate2LoveU: This song gets the going and is a great track. It is one of the stand out songs on the album. 9.5/10
  3. Some Like It: This track is hands down the best on the album. I love the old school sound and there is just something about it that makes it so addictive. This is probably my most played song on the album. 10/10
  4. Make Me Believe: This track is decent but after the greatness of the previous track, it just lacks something. I am not saying I dislike the track but it is not great. 8/10
  5. Take Control: Serving as the albums first single, this is one track that is on fire. It is so catchy and you just have to think how does Amerie do it. 10/10
  6. Gotta Work: This track serves as the albums second single and is another banger. I really like this track too and it is definitely one of the standouts from the album. 9.5/10
  7. Crush: This is a nice song and I think that it serves well as a nice album track. 8.5/10
  8. Crazy Wonderful: This is a really nice song as well. The track has a nice sultry sound to it. 8/10
  9. That's What U R: A decent song that fits the album nicely. It was supposed to be the third single but one wasn't released. I am kind of glad because this is not single material. 7.5/10
  10. When Loving You Was Easy: A great track that I think can be classed as one the standouts from the album. Amerie really pulls through on this album and delivers track by track greatness. 8.5/10
  11. Paint Me Over: This is one of the longest tracks on the album and it takes a few listens to make an impact. I think it is a really good track and fits nicely with the album. The album has definitely changed pace at this point. 7.5/10
  12. Somebody Up There: This is another slow sultry sounding track. Amerie has delivered another great track. 7.5/10
  13. All Roads: I love this song and it is one of the better sounding slower tracks off the album. It has such great lyrics and is a really great song with a nice meaning. 8.5/10
  14. 1 Thing: This is the song where I first discovered Amerie. This song is such a tune and is so catchy. If you haven't heard this song then where have you been. 10/10
  15. Losing U (Bonus Track): As a bonus track this finishes the album off nicely. It changes the pace up and is very catchy. If the album was to finish at All Roads or 1 Thing then it might leave the end of the album a little bare. 10/10

OVERALL: 8.8/10
This album has gained a very strong score and definitely deserves it. I constantly listen to this album, and it has such an array of tracks that range from slow to faster paced songs that are for all moods. I can definitely say that Amerie's last two albums have been stronger than her older material.

Album Review: Amerie - In Love & War

On to my second album review of the day...
I have quite a bit of time to spare today, so since I can't find anything else to do. I am just reviewing random albums. So up now we have Amerie's fourth studio album "In Love & War". I am quite a fan of Amerie's material and loved her previous album, which I might just review on a later post. This album was released in November last year, and is still gaining rotation on my iPod so check out my track-by-track review of this album and tell me if you agree.

  1. Tell Me You Love Me: This song is an absolute smash and is a big favourite of mine ever since it leaked. I will say it is a really good song but it is not one of the stand out tracks. 8/10
  2. Heard 'Em All: So this was Amerie's second single from this album. It is such a great song, which I weren't too sure of when I first heard it. But Amerie is definitely bringing something different. 9/10
  3. Dangerous: This song is such a great tune aswell. The album sounds great at this point and there hasn't been one scrap song. 8.5/10
  4. Higher: The rhythm of the album continues in its upbeat fashion. This song is very good as well and is great even though it only plays for just under 3 mins. 8/10
  5. Why R U: This served as the first single from the album. It is a real corker and is so catchy. I think I have turned into a great Amerie fan at this point. 9/10
  6. Pretty Brown (Ft. Trey Songz): This is another great track. I would not call it a stand out but it is definitely listenable. The best tracks are still yet to come. 8/10
  7. More Than Love (Ft. Fabolous): This track serves as the next single and it is such a cool track it definitely deserves a great score. 10/10
  8. Swagback: Along with the previous track, these are the stand out tracks and are always being played on my iPod. Amerie definitely knows how to keep the tracks coming. 10/10
  9. You're A Star (Interlude): So, if your a fan of Amerie, you will notice that this interlude samples from one of her tracks, "Hate2LoveU" from her previous album "Because I Love It". The interlude is nicely put into the album and breaks it up nicely. This is the point where the album starts to slow down, but still remains its greatness. 9/10
  10. Red Eye: This track is a nice slow joint. It is really good and considering the album has slowed down at this point, I really like it. 8.5/10
  11. The Flowers: This track is the longest on the album and racks up to just over 5 mins. This doesn't mean its a rubbish track. In fact for a track that goes on for this long, it is definitely a solid album track. 8/10
  12. Different People: This track is another great track from the album. I can not find any faults in any of the songs and to me they are all solid at this point. 8.5/10
  13. Dear John: This track is such a classic. I loved it when it first leaked. Many people gave this song a bad review but I see it differently. Even though this is a completely different track I still think it fits nicely. It is definitely worth a solid score. 9.5/10
  14. Heard 'Em All (Remix) (Ft. Lil Wayne): This track is not much different but now features a Lil Wayne verse. It sounds great but I think that it could have been left off the album. However as a bonus track, you don't see me complaining. 8.5/10
OVERALL: 8.7/10
This is a superb album. It definitely deserves the high score that it has achieved here. I am still listening to this day. I can't wait for Amerie's next album, but till then I am sure I have enough Amerie tracks from this album and her previous "Because I Love It" to keep me going.
